High Resolution Audio

LOSSLESS HIGH RESOLUTION AUDIO

The EM-64 provides the transmission of high-resolution audio with up to 24 Bit and 192 kHz. No lossless compression, no psychoacoustic processing, like in the MP3 format, takes place. Completely bit transparent multichannel audio, including MIDI and GP I/O data, can be transmitted in both directions at the same time.

THE UNIVERSAL AUDIO-OVER-IP PROTOCOL

The EM-64 provides the RESONETZ LINK protocol with Feature Level 2. Unique transmission algorithms ensure a reliable end-to-end transport - even in highly heterogeneous networks.
The integrated, constant network monitoring and adaptation to the "environment" conditions minimizes the latency and maintains a high-grade transmission. This way a perfectly reconstructed source signal without packet losses is delivered to the distant receiver.

The RESONETZ LINK protocol is using higher network layer protocols, like UDP, RTP, PTPv2 and a patented time synchronisation solution with sample accuracy in Wide Area Networks.

LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN)

The EM-64 can operate with all 64 channels in local networks, e.g. broadcast in-house-networks, studio complexes, theaters, stadiums or live sound setups.
Common of-the-the-shelf network switches are supported. This way huge EM-64 based audio network systems with up to 512 channels in a GBit LAN can be created.

WAN

WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN)

The EM-64 can transmit data via public networks with shared traffic, including the internet (with up to 8 audio channels).
IP switches and routers to access complex network infrastructures are supported.

DARK FIBER

DARK FIBER

Clients can lease unused ("Dark") optical connections ("Fiber") from a provider and create their own privately-operated network. The network is separated from the traffic-shared public network and can provide high bandwidths. Up to 64 channels are possible.

A single MADI I/O with 64 channels is transmitted with double redundancy via a cost-efficient 100 m network cable. In both directions. E. g. via a simple network cable infrastructure through the building, like a theatre, a concert hall or a broadcast studio complex.

LAN SETUP.

POINT-TO-MULTIPOINT CONNECTION
IN A LOCAL AREA NETWORK

A local area network with GBit capacity can transmit up to 512 channels - in both directions. This way a complete large-scale RESONETZ Audio-over-IP network can be built in an existing network infrastructure with off-the-shelf components. By using an additional “dark fiber” infrastructure, it is also possible to connect this local system to distant facilities (next setup example).

WAN/INTERNET SETUP.

LONG DISTANCE VIA FTTH/DARK FIBER OR INTERNET

A single MADI I/O with 64 channels can be transmitted in a Wide Area Network (WAN) via a FIBER-TO-THE-HOME or Dark Fiber connection with high bandwith (100 MBit). E. g. a dedicated broadband connection from a sport stadium or a concert hall to the broadcast studio complex.

RESONETZ "DARK FIBER" USE CASE.

KOSHIEN BASEBALL STADIUM LIVE BROADCAST

Two redundant pairs of remote-controlled RESONETZ EM-64 are installed for 2 x 64 channel realtime high-quality audio transmission from the KOSHIEN baseball stadium to the main broadcast studios in Chayamachi.

Using a dedicated wide area network connection over 100 km distance no packet loss occured. This way the main studio complex has a direct realtime access to the full-quality audio source at the location. Program directors and operators process and mix the multichannel audio feed for daily and weekly TV and radio programs - directly from the live events.

The channels are feeded directly to the mixing desk and the production room. The operator can access, select and mix any location microphon in the MBS show. This way the system with all connections can be routed and managed in realtime.

The EM-64 provides complete remote control of the device via a network connection. Operators can access the integrated web-based user interface via:

Device settings, presets, headphones volume, device lock, all MADI and network settings, including the integrated routing matrix can be easily edited. Online updates - including the device firmware - encrypted password protection and broadcast-ready administration rights are supported. It just needs a web browser, running on a device in the same network with wired or WIFI connections.

HIGH-QUALITY SAMPLERATE CONVERSION

The EM-64 integrates the RESONETZ HQ-SRC algorithm for all 64 channels.

Sample Rate control and correction is essential for any kind of jittery network transfer. The Sample Rate Conversion is directly built-into the FPGA-based RESONETZ core. In contrast to a SRC chip solution, this way all EM-64 channels are perfectly in sync to each other.

The EM-64 can also work as stand-alone Sample Rate Converter for a MADI setup, adding a highly professional feature to the device.
